OCEANSIDE, CA- At approximately 12:00 p.m., Oceanside Police Officers responded to the 3700 block of Marron Road following multiple reports of a suspicious vehicle being driven recklessly in the area. Witnesses reported that a gray Toyota Camry was being driven erratically, nearly colliding with other vehicles and creating a potential danger to pedestrians. Due to the driver’s actions and concern for public safety, officers responded to the area and several nearby businesses were contacted and placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Officers located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to yield. Officers deployed spike strips, which were effective in slowing the vehicle. Officers were then able to contain and block the vehicle with the assistance of the department’s armored vehicle. The driver refused to comply with officers’ commands and was ultimately taken into custody through the use of less-lethal force options and a police K-9.

The suspect was taken into custody, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active, and multiple criminal charges are pending.
