The Regional Task Force on Homelessness (RTFH) announced the results of the #WeAllCount event in 2023. On January 26th, more than 1,600 volunteers participated in the Point in Time Count (PITC) for homelessness across San Diego County. The count found that 10,264 people in the San Diego County region were homeless, of whom 5,171 lived on the streets.
According to the latest Point-in-Time (PIT) Count, the number of people experiencing homelessness without shelter in San Diego County rose by 22% from 2022 to 2023.
The City of Oceanside had 588 homeless people, split almost evenly between sheltered and unsheltered. In Oceanside, there were 298 sheltered and 290 unsheltered homeless people. The count is an 8.8% decrease compared to the 2022 PIT Count, with 318 unsheltered.
