Mountain Lion Sightings
The Oceanside Police Department has confirmed reports from local residents regarding mountain lion sightings in several areas of the city. These areas include the following:
- 200 and 300 block of North Coast Highway
- 1100 block of South Coast Hwy
- SR-76 at Rancho Del Oro
The Oceanside Police Department contacted the California Department of Fish & Wildlife regarding the recent sightings. Community members are asked to not approach or otherwise disturb mountain lions that they may encounter. Instead, avoid the mountain lion and report the sighting to the Oceanside Police Department immediately at 760-435-4911. If the mountain lion is aggressive, hostile or seen near a school or park please call 9-1-1 immediately.
When calling Oceanside Police Department, community members should be prepared to provide the location, time. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is aware of the recent sightings and is monitoring the situation with collaboration with Oceanside PD and investigating sightings when reported.
