June 4, 2024 update: The Harbor dredge and sand placement is complete. 266,000 cubic yards of material were removed from the Harbor channel and placed on Oceanside beaches. Over 150,000 cubic yards of sand was placed south of the Pier this year. The demobilization of dredge equipment from the beach began today, and is contingent on beach use and grunion avoidance. Complete demobilization from the beach and out of the Harbor is expected before June 19.
Thank you for your patience as this project wraps up!
May 30, 2024 update: The dredge vessel was repaired after a mechanical issue and work re-started on Tuesday, May 28. The outfall pipe will be moved southward as they complete the operation. The US Army Corps of Engineers plans to complete all dredging and equipment removal by June 17, barring any high surf or other issues that could slow or temporarily halt the work. Thanks for your patience as the crews work to clear the Harbor inlet for safe vessel navigation, resulting in sand replenishment for Oceanside beaches. Beachgoers should plan to visit the beach north of the Pier or Harbor Beach while the operation wraps up.

May 22, 2024 update: The dredge vessel’s repair should be complete by the end of this week, and the Harbor dredging operation aims to re-start on Tuesday, May 28. It is expected to run for about 4-5 days, and then demobilization of fencing and equipment will begin. The beach is open and available over the Memorial Day weekend. You may see some fencing, but there are openings to pass through before the work resumes.
May 15, 2024 update: The dredge vessel experienced a substantial mechanical issue that forced the shut-down of the Harbor inlet dredge operation. The dredge operators, Manson Construction, plan to dry dock the vessel in Long Beach to repair. At this time, there is no information on when the project will resume. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.
April 2024 updates: The annual Army Corps of Engineers' dredge of the entrance to the Oceanside Harbor began the week of April 22, 2024. Harbor Lot 12 is closed during the work.
The sand dredged annually from the Harbor inlet is pumped onto Oceanside beaches. Please use caution in and around the beach during this project.
