OCEANSIDE, CA – The Oceanside Police Department has made an arrest in a long-unsolved homicide case, bringing closure to a crime that has remained under investigation for over 15 years.

Yesterday, Jeffrey Roberson, 59, was taken into custody in Spring Valley for the 2008 murder of Cecil Zachary Jr.

Roberson was identified as a suspect through DNA evidence, leading to his arrest by authorities.

Following his arrest, Roberson was interviewed by Oceanside PD Crimes of Violence Detectives, during which he admitted to the killing. He has since been booked into the San Diego Central Jail on charges of murder.

This arrest is the result of years of dedicated investigative work and advancements in forensic technology. We are committed to seeking justice for victims and their families, no matter how much time has passed.
