Oceanside Police Department Confirms No Participation in Immigration Enforcement

Post Date:07/03/2025 10:40 AM

OCEANSIDE, CA – On the morning of July 2, 2025, the Oceanside Police Department (OPD) was contacted by federal agents requesting a brief police presence during the execution of a federal arrest warrant in the area of Las Vegas and Caroyln Circle. In keeping with our role as first responders committed to the safety of all residents, OPD dispatched two officers and a supervisor to monitor the scene for public safety purposes only.

Officers remained on scene only briefly. At no point did they assist with the arrest or engage in any form of immigration enforcement.

We want to be clear: OPD was not a participant in this federal operation. We do not engage in immigration enforcement, nor do we assist in such efforts. We understand concerns have been raised due to social media posts, and we are issuing this statement to clarify the facts and reaffirm our commitment to the community.

OPD strictly complies with California state law, including the California Values Act (SB 54), which prohibits local law enforcement agencies from using their resources for immigration enforcement. In alignment with this law, OPD does not inquire about a person’s immigration status, nor do we participate in federal immigration enforcement efforts. Our presence at the scene was solely to uphold our responsibility to ensure the safety and security of the. neighborhood. Oceanside Police remains committed to transparency, accountability, and upholding the trust of our community.
