OCEANSIDE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND CITY CODE ENFORCEMENT SEIZE OVER 6,300 PROHIBITED FLAVORED NICOTINE/TOBACCO PRODUCTS

Post Date:12/04/2025 2:16 PM

OCEANSIDE, CA — On November 18, 2025, the Oceanside Police Department’s Special Enforcement Section (SES), in partnership with City Code Enforcement, conducted a flavored-tobacco compliance operation at Oceanside Smoke Shop, 4170 Oceanside Blvd., Suite 177C, resulting in the seizure of over 6,300 prohibited flavored nicotine and tobacco products.

Under California law (SB 793) and Business and Professions Code 22974.2, the retail sale or possession for sale of flavored tobacco/nicotine products is prohibited statewide. This legislation was enacted to reduce youth access to nicotine products and curb the appeal of flavored items that are known to attract minors.

During the operation, officers and code inspectors located thousands of flavored-tobacco and nicotine products that were prohibited under state law. A majority of the items seized were hidden behind the counter from public view. These items were recovered and seized in accordance with statutory requirements. The business was also operating without a valid Tobacco Retail License after multiple failed inspections by City Code Enforcement.

Oceanside PD and City Code Enforcement conduct routine compliance checks throughout the city to ensure businesses are adhering to state and local regulations. These efforts remain essential in preventing illegal sales to minors and reducing youth exposure to harmful tobacco products.

The Oceanside Police Department remains committed to ensuring local retailers operate responsibly and in compliance with state law, supporting a safer and healthier community for all.
