Post Date:12/08/2025 3:51 PM

OCEANSIDE, CA — The Oceanside Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision involving a bicyclist and an SUV that occurred near the Oceanside Harbor.

On December 6, 2025, at approximately 10:42 p.m., officers responded to reports of a collision in the area of 314 S. Harbor Drive. Upon arrival, officers located 52-year-old male who suffered critical injuries, including major head trauma and an open femur fracture. He was unresponsive and was airlifted to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for emergency medical care.

Despite medical efforts, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office notified OPD that the victim has succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the involved SUV remained on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. At this time, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor. Due to the severity of the crash, the Oceanside Police Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and assumed primary responsibility for the investigation. Harbor Drive was temporarily closed during on-scene processing and later reopened.

This collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Oceanside Police Department Traffic Investigator Gomez at (760) 435-4952.
