Ages 12 and up are invited to explore the essentials of Taiko, a traditional style of Japanese drumming, with educators from San Diego Taiko. Registration is required through the Oceanside Public Library’s online calendar: oceansidelibrary.org.
All ages are invited to attend the Polynesian Lei-Making Workshop where craft lovers can make authentic Polynesian Leis with step-by-step guidance, as well as learn more about the cultural significance of this tradition.
Families can participate in a Danza Azteca Workshop, where they will learn the basics of traditional Aztec dance with Calpulli Omeyocan, a local grassroots Mexica/Native American dance group, and experience dance through this sacred Mesoamerican way of expression.
This cultural arts series will culminate in a free Community Celebration. All ages will enjoy vibrant dance and musical performances by Japanese, Mexican, and Samoan cultural groups! All workshops and events are free to the public and materials will be provided.
These free events are supported by the Friends of Oceanside Public Library and the Oceanside CA Cultural District.
