OCEANSIDE POLICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATES HOMICIDE

OCEANSIDE, CA — On April 7, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Oceanside Police responded to the 2300 block of Falling Leaf Road following a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult female. Based on the evidence at the scene, investigators believe she was the victim of a homicide.

An individual, believed to be the suspect, barricaded himself in the residence. Therefore, Oceanside Police Department (OPD) SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were deployed to assist.

Following a standoff that lasted several hours, SWAT officers safely took the male into custody. Prior to being detained, the individual inflicted multiple life-threatening injuries to himself. Personnel from the Oceanside Fire Department were on scene and immediately rendered medical aid. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Detectives from the Crimes of Violence Unit have assumed responsibility for the ongoing homicide investigation. The identities of both the victim and the suspect are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This is an isolated incident, and there is no additional threat to public safety.
